Our accommodation business started in the 90’s with only a small house with 2-3 rooms and a campsite. Since then many things have changed and grown and today we have 4 houses with 28 rooms and kitchen facilities! The campsite as also taken it’s growth spurt and during a good summer day it hosts around 150 persons and has nice indoor showers and toilets. All around us are hiking trails and fantastic landmarks within 5 km. distance, so it is almost impossible to get bored in the area, especially if you are a nature lover!

When the guesthouse started first in the 1990’s, tourism in Iceland was not as booming as it is today. But lake Mývatn has always been a point of interest for travelers.

About half of the travelers that come to our small island make their way to the lake! In the year 1990 over 140.000 tourists came to Iceland, and 10 years later in 2000 the number had gone up to 300.000. Today it is estimated that over 2 million tourists come to Iceland yearly! That is around 7 times the population of Iceland!

The pizzeria, Daddi‘s pizza, was first opened in 2009 and celebrates it’s 8th year this upcoming summer!

The name is not a misspelling of the English word „Daddy“ as many might think. The name is actually a nickname for the Icelandic name Þórhallur, which is one of the owners of the company.
Both the guesthouse and the pizzeria have a tight-knitted group of employees that  all agree that working in Mývatn is one of the best experiences that they have ever had!

Every day is filled with fun and laughter, especially during the summertime when the area is buzzing with new interesting people to meet.

The nature around the lake is very interesting, as it  is located in a geothermal active area. We even have an active volcano only 15 km away. Mývatn is the fourth biggest lake in Iceland and is the home to more species of ducks than any other lake in the world!
